The Challenge

No Surrender Heroes struggled with some matchmaking time latencies. To improve the player experience, wait times needed to be decreased dramatically including matching players based on required metrics. No Surrender aimed to scale its services across multiple regions to enhance connection quality between players. Detailed monitoring of server metrics and logs were also desired.

The Solution

Oredata and No Surrender used GKE Autopilot to deploy the game servers of the studio, Agones and OpenMatch. No Surrender collaborated with Oredata to integrate the infrastructure. To achieve the desired matchmaking times, No Surrender enabled and optimized the Matchmaking Function of OpenMatch. Oredata and No Surrender ensured OpenMatch to work in multiple-regions Director per region architecture.

The Result

No Surrender managed to decrease matchmaking times to the desired target for the given game. Agones and OpenMatch are fully utilized. GKE’s Google Cloud out of the box infrastructure logging had been utilized. The eco-system managed to work in a multi-region environment with increased performance and quality.
